Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur (KL), is renowned for its historic architecture, an abundance of lush greenery and its famous Petronas Twin Towers. What’s even better is you don’t have to spend a fortune to enjoy the best of the city! Here’s how you can explore the beauty of KL for completely free:

Petronas Twin Towers free viewing deck:
The observation deck for these iconic towers comes with a hefty price. However, The KLCC Park, located right below the towers, capture the skyscrapers in all their glory – in the evening, they even light up, creating an incredible atmosphere that’s free to enjoy!
Batu Caves:
One of KL’s most popular tourist attractions is just a short train ride from the city centre. Featuring impressive limestone caves and the Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple proudly displaying its giant golden statue of Lord Murugan, the view from the top makes the 272-step climb worth it.
KL Forest Eco Park:
Also known as Bukit Nanas, this forest reserve offers a serene escape from KL’s urban hustle. As well as exploring the tropical rainforest, you can enjoy the 200-metre-long canopy walk, offering panoramic views of KL’s skyline and surrounding greenery. It’s also brilliant for a daytime picnic or hike!
National Mosque – Masjid Negara:
This architectural masterpiece is one of the largest mosques in Southeast Asia and located in the heart of the city. Take a guided tour to gain insight into the mosque’s history and Islamic culture, or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and stunning design.
There’s no shortage of things to do in KL on a budget – by prioritising free activities, you can experience the best of Malaysia’s capital without overspending.
